Euro Pallet Dimensions (EUR / EPAL)

The Euro pallet (EUR/EPAL) measures 1200 × 800 mm and weighs about 25 kg. Full dimensions, weight limits and how many fit in a truck or container.

The Euro pallet (EUR or EPAL pallet) is the standard wooden pallet used across European road freight. Its footprint of 1200 × 800 mm is the reference every trailer, swap body and container is planned around, so knowing it lets you work out load counts, loading metres and CBM before you book.

Key dimensions

Length1200 mm

Height144 mm

A standard pallet plus 144 mm height means a single stacked unit is usually planned at around 1000–1200 mm total height for road freight.

EPAL pallet sizes

EPAL standardises several footprints — the 1200 × 800 mm EPAL 1 is by far the most common:

  • EPAL 1 — 1200 × 800 mm (the classic Euro pallet)
  • EPAL 2 — 1200 × 1000 mm (industrial / "UK" footprint)
  • EPAL 3 — 1000 × 1200 mm
  • EPAL 6 — 800 × 600 mm (half pallet)
  • EPAL 7 — 600 × 400 mm (quarter / display pallet)

See pallet sizes for the full comparison with industrial and block pallets.

How many Euro pallets fit?

  • 13.6 m curtainsider — 33 Euro pallets on the floor (loaded long-side along the trailer)
  • 20 ft container — 11 Euro pallets in one layer
  • 40 ft container — 24 Euro pallets in one layer

Why the Euro pallet size matters for pricing

Part-load (LTL) freight is priced on the space you occupy, not just weight. Because a Euro pallet is 0.96 m² and ~0.4 loading metres, carriers can quote a part-load in "pallet spaces" or LDM. Getting the count right is the difference between a fair quote and paying for air.
